Regen, Regen und nochmals Regen….der erste Gang nach dem Auschecken führt uns in das angrenzende 7eleven, um zwei Schirme zu kaufen. Wir hatten uns vorgenommen, zuerst den Morning Market anzuschauen, auf dem es alles Mögliche an fischigem und unfischigem zu kaufen geben sollte. In jedem Gebäude war eine kleine Marktbude untergebracht, es roch nach frischem Fisch und aus jeder Richtung preisten die Verkäufer lautstark ihre Ware an. Riesige Krebse wurden abgewogen oder weilten in großen Aquarien. Wir konnten beobachten, wie ein Junge an einem großen Angelbecken sein Glück versuchte und schon nach kurzer Zeit einen Cuttlefisch, wir würden es als Tintenfisch bezeichnen, angelte und stolz der noch stolzeren, fotografierenden Familie hinhielt.
Weiter liefen wir am Hafen entlang und besichtigten die Warehouses, rote Ziegelflachbauten ursprünglich als Lagerhäuser erbaut und mittlerweile zu je einem Fisch,- Süßigkeiten-, Wein-, Spielzeug- und Glaswarenmarkt umdefiniert.
Zuletzt nahmen wir uns das Fort Goryokaku vor, eine sternförmig erbaute Zitadelle an. Wir entschieden uns dagegen, den Tower zu erklimmen, von welchem man hätte tolle Bilder machen können. Jedoch waren die Preise mindesten genauso hoch wie der Turm und das Wetter und hunderte Japaner hätten uns wahrscheinlich gehindert. Da wir spätestens da komplett durchgeweicht waren, entschieden wir uns, den nächstbesten Zug zu nehmen und nach Sapporo zu fahren und dann weiter nach Otaru.
Unser heutiges Hostel ist wohl da tollste überhaupt: ein ursprüngliches japanisches Holzhaus, die Räume nur durch dünne Wände abgetrennt und eine Manga-lese-Ecke, die keine Wünsche offen lässt. Bilder folgen wie immer in der Galerie.
