Heute war rein von der Anreise gesehen, der spannendste Tag, weil wir noch nicht genau wussten, auf welchem Wege wir die Unterkunft erreichen sollen. Laut Internet sollte man sich ein Seetaxi suchen, welches einen auf die kleine Insel bringt, auf der wir mühsam mit japanischem Anmeldeformular eine Hütte gebucht hatten.
Wir tuckerten zunächst mit einem lokalen Zug zur Hinase Station und begaben uns in die Touristen Information. Mit dem Telefon zeigten wir unser Ziel und fragten, wie wir dort hinkommen können. Voller Überzeugung meinte die Angestellte „Laufen“, in einer Stunde wäre das machbar. Google Maps war da ganz anderer Meinung, was man unseren Gesichtern vermutlich ansah. Der nächste Vorschlag, mit einem E-bike zu fahren, fand sofort Anklang bei uns. Ziemlich günstig mieten wir zwei Räder für zwei Tage, räumten unsere Rucksäcke um und schlossen die großen in ein Schließfach.
Um für die Fahrt gerüstet zu sein versackten wir erstmal beim nebenan gelegenen Chinese, um uns mit einem riesigen, spottbilligen Mittagessen zu stärken. Dann schwangen wir uns auf die Räder und heizten über die einzige Brücke auf die Insel und dann immer Berg auf. Das machte die erste Zeit richtig Spaß, aber nach dem ersten Drittel, wurde aus der Straße eine Schotterpiste, die wir mit unseren Rädern nicht mehr bezwingen konnten. Es kam nun zu einem ständigen Wechsel zwischen ein paar Meter fahren und viele Meter bergauf oder -ab schieben. Das letzte mal so arg die Nase voll wie an dieses Stelle, hatte ich auf dem Abstieg vom Fuji… eine Stunde zu Fuß … , ist klar!
Aber viele Flüche später erreichen wir endlich den Eingang zu unserer Unterkunft. In der riesigen und urigen Rezeptionshütte wurden wir erst von drei Katzen und dann vom Besitzer begrüßt. Wir waren die einzigen Besucher und bekamen die Hütte gleich neben seinem Haus.
Noch ehe wir das Haus betraten, war das Katzentrio schon drin und machte die Hausbesichtigung mit uns. Wir hatten einem riesigen Tatamibereich, ein für Japan normales Fertigbad, Waschmaschine, Küche, Aussicht aufs Meer und als Highlight die Feuerstelle in der Mitte der Raumes.
Wir legten unsere Sachen ab und kehrten mit den Miezen zurück zum Haupthaus, wo unser Gastgeber uns zeigte, wie man auf traditionell japanische Weise Feuer macht. Das kostete nicht nur Kraft und Ausdauer, sondern auch viel Puste.
Vorm Essen gingen wir nochmal an den Strand direkt unten am Haus. Dort fand man Tonnen an Perlmutt! Ein Stückchen schöner als das vorherige. Nach einer Stunde empfand ich meine Sammlung als groß genug und wir konnten uns der eigentlichen Tagesaufgabe widmen, dem Essenzubereiten.
Von unserem Gastgeber bekamen wir einen Korb mit Feuerholz und eine Kiste mit den Zutaten: Muscheln, Garnelen, Fleisch, Gemüse, Pilze, Kohl und Tofu. Das warfen wir alles zusammen in einen großen Kessel, den wir über das entfachte Feuer stellten. Ständig begleitet in unserer Unterkunft waren wir von den drei Katzen, die alles unsicher machten. Einmal befreite ich die eine vom Abflusssieb, welches sie auf dem Kopf stecken hatte. Über Nacht schickten wir die Tiger nach draußen und hatten sofort mit anderen Tieren zu kämpfen. Neben den unzähligen winzigen Mücken, rannten uns nachts Kakerlaken und Eidechsen über Arme und Beine. Weil so nicht an Schlaf zu denken war, bauten wir uns aus den Baumstämmen, die als Hocker dienten, und mehreren Isomatten ein Fort, in dem wir halbwegs geschützt vor dem Getier waren.
Meine schlimmste Befürchtung, den ganzen Weg mit den Rädern wieder zurück zu müssen, würde jedoch nicht erfüllt … Wir hatten das unaussprechliche Glück, dass uns unser Gastgeber anbot, uns samt Rädern zur Station zu fahren. Das nahmen wir selbstverständlich dankbar an. Am Hafen trafen wir dann noch den ehemaligen Lehrer unseres Wirtes, der sich auch über ausländische Besucher im kleinen Städtchen freute und entdeckten eine riesige Gottesanbeterin auf einem unserer Räder. Diese pflückte ich in der Touristeninfo ab und übergab sie einer Angestellten, die sie bereitwillig annahm (was auch immer sie jetzt damit anfängt …)
