Bevor wir zu unserem Endziel Tokyo fahren, entschieden wir uns auch aufgrund der enormen Strecke noch einmal in Kyoto halt zu machen. Diesmal übernachteten wir in einem Hostel direkt in Gion, dem Vergnügungsviertel, in dem wir am frühen Abend ankamen. Wir bekamen im Schlafsaal ein Doppelstockbett mit direktem Ausblick zum gegenüberliegenden Haus mitsamt Dachrestaurant. Für unser Sicherheitsgefühl sorgte zudem ein Fluchtsystem zum Abseilen aus dem Fenster. Bis auf die Kleinigkeit, dass ich mit dem Rucksack nicht durch den schmalen Gang zu den Betten passte schönes Hostel.
Nach einer leckeren Stärkung und wieder einer neuen Erfahrung wie man Essen (über eine Art Ticketautomat) bestellen kann, spontan entschieden wir uns dafür bei Nacht den Aufstieg zum Rundgang durch die Tausend Toris beim Fushimi Inari Schrein noch einmal in Angriff zu nehmen. Wesentlich angenehmer durch viel weniger Menschen und niedrigerer Temperaturen, aber trotzdem angestrengt erklommen wir die erste Hälfte zum Aussichtspunkt, schossen ein paar Fotos und genossen kurz den Ausblick auf die Stadt. So wirklich bewusst war uns jedoch nicht noch nicht, dass dies der höchstgelegene Ausblick war, so liefen wir in der Erwartung darauf weiter auf Irrwegen den Berg hinauf und wieder hinab um genau an der Stelle wieder herauszukommen. Aber wir können sagen: es hat sich gelohnt und wir haben es doch noch geschafft!
