Eine der schönsten Szenerien in Japan sollen unter anderem die vielen kleinen Inseln von Matsushima sein.

Im besagten Ort angekommen, besuchten wir erst den Tourismus-Schalter, an dem wir von der freundlichen Mitarbeiterin auf Deutsch begrüßt wurden. Auch ihr Englisch war wirklich passabel, sodass wir neben einer Karten auch einige Zusatzinformationen erhielten.

Der erste Anlaufpunkt war der Godaido, ein kleiner Schrein, dessen Inneres nur aller 33 Jahre der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht wird. Erreichen konnte man ihn, indem man zwei kleine Holzbrücken überquerte, durch deren Bohlen man das Wasser sehen konnte.  Von dort aus sahen wir die vielen kleinen und großen Schiffe, die schaulustige Menschenmassen über das Wasser trugen. Auch in unser Sichtfeld fiel die lange rote Brücke, die das Festland mit der Insel Fukuurajima verband.

Wir bezahlten eine geringe Maut und gelangten, vorbei an der einbeinigen Möwe, auf die dicht bewaldete Insel. Teilweise über die Spazierwege und teilweise durch die Wildnis umrundeten wir die ganze Insel. Hin und wieder kamen wir an einen Aussichtspunkt oder gelangten über einen steilen Steinweg direkt an den kleinen Strand. Wir verbrachten viel Zeit in der einsamen Wildnis, denn andere Menschen traf man nur selten an.

Mit zwei Hotdogs, einer Tüte Teigpommes und zwei Eis gestärkt wagten wir (endlich mal wieder…) einen Bergaufstieg. Die Straße, welche wir entlang liefen, führt in Serpentinen bis zu einem Aussichtspunkt, von wo aus man eine Überblick überall die kleinen Inseln hatte. Wir ließen uns den warmen Wind um die Nase wehen und stiegen den Berg, schneller als wir ihn hoch liefen, hinab.

Unser letzter Akt war das Auffinden eines Geocaches, den wir nun problemlos aus seinem Versteck holen konnten, ohne von Muggels (Unwissenden) beobachtet zu werden.
