Pure Begeisterung brach aus als früh um sechs der Wecker klingelte. Die Sachen waren schon alle aus dem großen in den kleinen Rucksack umgepackt, da wir nur ein kleines Gepäckstück mit auf den heutigen Flug nehmen durften. Der Weg zum Bahnhof war schon beschwerlich, denn 100% Luftfeuchtigkeit und 30°C wirkten sich aus, wie in einem Gewächshaus, dass den ganzen Tag von der Sonne beschienen und nun gegossen wurde.
Unglücklicherweise erwischten wir zeitlich genau die Rush Hour, das heißt unser Zug wurde so vollgestopft, dass man eng an eng stand, sich keinen Zentimeter bewegen, so aber auch nicht umkippen konnte. Ich nutzte das kurze Zeitfenster, in dem wenige Leute aus dem Zug ausstiegen und bevor die nächsten zustiegen, um mich an der Nase zu kratzen, denn die Hand zu heben, war Schwerstarbeit.
Schon im nächsten Zug Richtung Flughafen, begann es zu regnen und stürmen, was uns die Weiterreise noch vereinfachte.
Am Flughafen angekommen, suchten wir zunächst nach großen Schließfächern, in die unsere beiden großen Rucksäcke passen und dort die nächsten drei Tage verweilen können. Dann druckten wir uns am Automaten unsere Flugtickets aus und stiegen ins Flugzeug, ohne auch nur einmal unseren Pass zeigen zu müssen.
Gut zwei Stunden später landeten wir auf der tropischen Insel Okinawa und erwischten das ärgste Regenwetter, für das man hier schon sehr viel Unglück haben musste. Das strich uns sämtliche mögliche Sehenswürdigen von unseren Liste, sodass nur noch ein Besuch im Aquarium blieb. Diese erledigte sich aber auch aufgrund mangelnder Anbindung. So machten wir uns also erst auf den Weg zum Hotel, vorbeiführend an einem Conbini, in dem wir uns mit zwei Regenschirmen ausstatteten.
Auf dem Zimmer mussten wir erst einmal scharf nachdenken,was wir mit dem angebrochenen Tag anfangen wollen. Übrig blieb nun noch die Kokusai-Straße – eine Straße, in der sich ein Laden an den anderen reiht und von der weitere Einkaufsstraßen abzweigten. Hier konnte man die typischen Souvenirs, Glasperlen und -waren, Stoffe und die für Okinawa stehenden Maskottchen, kaufen.
Lange brachten wir auf der Straße zu, bis uns der Hunger in ein Steakhouse im amerikanischen Stil trieb. Dort verdrückten wir ein Steak mit extra viel Knoblauch und Spareribs, welche wir von einer Karten aussuchten, auf der alle essbaren Steakkörperteile eines Rindes abgebildet waren.
