Die gestern erstandene Nashibirne musste heute als Frühstück herhalten und erfüllte ihren Zweck lobenswert. Zu zweit hatten wir ganz schön zu kämpfen, das Monster zu verdrücken.

Zurück am Bahnhof stiefelten wir kurz über den Weihnachtsmarkt und sahen einem Ballonkünstler zu, ehe wir auch schon mit dem Zug weiter nach Kumamoto fuhren. Dort standen wir gerade an der Tramhaltestelle und überlegten, welche Linie wir günstiger Weise wählen sollten, als eine freundliche Frau uns lachend eine Bahnübersichtskarte überreichte. Als dann mehr oder weniger noch das Wort Kumamoto Castle fiel, zückte sich auch davon noch einen Flyer und übergab ihn uns hilfsbereit.

So schauten wir uns heute die Stadt an, fuhren mit Heidelberger Straßenbahnen (die wahrscheinlich in den Nachkriegszeiten von uns aussortiert wurden) und gingen anschließend essen.

Als wir das Restaurant betraten, das mit Okonomiyaki (Japanisches Omelette) warb, wussten wir noch nicht, dass uns der Kellner an einen Tisch mit einer großen eingelassenen Kochplatte platzierte. Unsere Vorspeise und auch das Okonomiyaki selbst wurden auf der Platte serviert und brutzelte so weiter vor sich hin. Da wir die Vorspeise, obwohl sie lecker war, nicht wirklich identifizieren konnten, schauten wir, nachdem das Abendessen schon etwas verdaut war, nach der Übersetzung. Es war Schweinemagen – wären wir nie drauf gekommen, war aber gut!

Im Fahrstuhl kümmerte sich dann eine Angestellte um alle Insassen und drückte die gewünschten Etagen.
Auch wenn Japan technologisch unglaublich fortgeschritten ist, kann Deutschland sich hier in Sachen Dienstleistung eine große Scheibe abschneiden.

Denn während dort immerwährend Stellenabbau betrieben wird, scheint es in Japan für jeden eine passende Stelle zu geben. Dienstleistung und Service werden groß geschrieben. Auf Baustellen auf dem Highway und an Straßen, auf denen generell immer gearbeitet wird, arbeiten nicht nur die Bauarbeiter selbst, sondern häufig auch noch mehrere Menschen, die lediglich die Funktion haben, mit einem blinkenden Stab oder einer Fahne auf die Baustelle aufmerksam zu machen. In fast jeder Bank gibt es, neben den wirklich vielen Bearbeitern, noch eine Person, die die Kunden einem Schalter zuweist oder Fragen beantwortet. Vor jedem Parkhaus steht ein Pförtner, der die Reihenfolge von ausfahrenden Autos und Fußgängern regelt. Es gibt noch einige weitere Beispiele von Tätigkeiten, die trotz technischen Fortschrittes von freundlichen Menschen ausgeführt werden.
