Traurigerweise mussten wir heute Morgen unsere eigene Kurzzeitwohnug in Kyoto verlassen.
Mit vollgepackten Rucksäcken stiefelten wir zur nahegelegensten Station und fuhren mit dem nächsten Zug zum Hauptbahnhof. Dieser war vollends überlaufen mit Reisenden, Geschäftsleuten, Schaulustigen und – mit einer Schulklasse, die mittig des Trubels in Reihen sortiert auf dem Boden saß und von ihrem Lehrer, der unmittelbar vor ihr stand, mit einem Megafon (ja, richtig gelesen!) belehrt wurde.
In Tokyo angekommen, suchten wir zuerst und in Rekordzeit unser Hotel auf. Wir teilen uns hier eine Kapsel im vierten Stock auf dem insgesamt 160 Leute in 80 Kapseln Platz haben. Auf einem Flur und davon gibt es sechs. Unser Gepäck nächtigt dummerweise im ersten Stockwerk, da auf den sardinendosenartigen Kapselkorridoren kein Platz ist. Ich sehe mich heute Nacht schon im Schlafanzug durch das Hotel rennen, weil ich irgendetwas in der Tasche vergessen habe!
Unser Weg führte uns in das restlos überlaufene Pokémon Center. Wir fingen uns ein Pikachu im Outfit der Nationalmannschaft (in dem dieser Tage auch jeder Verkäufer bekleidet ist) und zogen weiter nach Shinjuku, der Einkaufsmeile in der alles möglich ist und in der es alles gibt. Kaum ein Zentimeter findet sich dort , der nicht von einem der zigtausend Menschen mit Füßen getreten wird. Wir plünderten verschiedene Läden und diverse Kaufhäuser und gingen nicht ganz leer aus. Wobei das völlig untertrieben ist.
Das Leben im Hotel stellte sich noch als sehr gesellig heraus, fast so, als wäre man auf Klassenfahrt. Auf unserem Gang schlafen Männer, Frauen, Kinder, Japaner und Ausländer und alle tragen den vom Hotel bereitgestellten Schlafanzug. Dieser Einheitslook verbindet alle und man fühlt sich wohl in der großen Gemeinschaft.
