Als Ausgleich zur heutigen 5 stündigen Zugfahrt, schwangen wir uns auf die Fahrräder und fuhren quer durch Kyoto auf der Suche nach Caches. Als Fahrradfahrer hat man in Japan so ziemlich alle Freiheiten – egal ob mit oder ohne Licht oder Helm, auf Fußweg, Radweg oder Straße, man ist Gott schlechthin. Alle weichen einem aus und gewähren einem Vorfahrt. Ampeln kleinerer Straßen werden grundsätzlich auch bei Rot überfahren.
Am entspanntesten fährt es es sich gegen Abend. Wir gurkten durch die ganze Stadt und pausierten am Stadion. Als Zaungäste schauten wir bei unserem ersten richtigen Baseballspiel zu. Zwar spielten hier „nur“ zwei Highschool-Mannschaften, doch die Stimmung war nicht zu überbieten: jede Mannschaft hatte ihre eigene Kapelle, Cheerleader und Fans auf der Tribüne sitzen, die Lärm für das gesamte Stadion machten.

Alles war noch auf den Beinen: im Park fand sich eine Yoga-Tanz Gruppe zusammen, Rentner joggten, ein Vater trug im Schlafanzug (!) sein Baby spazieren und im Aquadome wurde Turmspringen trainiert.

Die Fahrräder haben wir im Übrigen zusätzlich zu unserem Appartment. Wir haben eine kleine Wohnung in einem typischen Wohnblock ziemlich in der Innenstadt. Von hier aus erreichen wir alles mit dem Rad und können uns zur Abwechslung das Busgeld sparen. Wenn ich morgen diverse Körperteile wieder spüre, treten wir morgen die große Geocache-Radtour an.
