Nach 4 Stunden Schlaf befanden wir uns bereits wieder auf der Reise nach Nagasaki, mit der Hoffnung, dort ein Zimmer in unserem Lieblingshostel zu bekommen. Diese Hoffnung wurde uns aber schon auf der Hinfahrt in Form einer Email geraubt. Deshalb gaben wir unser Gepäck am Bahnhof bei einem spontan für die Zeremonie am 9. August eingerichteten Gepäckstand ab, während der Präsident per Videoleinwand zu uns sprach. Durch gute Ortskenntnis fuhren wir zügig zum Peace-Park, vor welchem die Straße für den Präsidentenkonvoi kurzzeitig gesperrt wurde und wir „Such den Präsidenten“ spielen konnten. Auf dem Weg zum Denkmal kamen uns viele Menschen entgegen, die der Zeremonie beigewohnt hatten. Der Park war nicht wiederzuerkennen: unzählige Kraniche säumten den Weg, Kamerateam rannten umher um Zeitzeugen zu interviewen, Arbeiter türmten tausende Stühle zusammen und verteilten kalte Tücher und Wasserflaschen. Als wir direkt vor dem Denkmal standen tauchten hinter uns trommelnde Mönche auf. Das nächste Geld wechselten wir in einer sehr deutsch geregelten Bank (mit Nummernziehen) auf dem Weg nach Chinatown, Dutch slope und dem Glover Garden. Nach der Besichtigung reservierten wir uns für den nächsten Tag zwei Plätze auf dem Boot nach Gunkanjima. Nach 4 1/2 Stunden Zufahrt waren wir wieder zurück am Bahnhof Hiroshima und suchten uns per Internetcomputer noch schnell ein Hostel für die bereits begonnene und nächste Nacht, fuhren kurz Bahn und checkten schließlich im Hostel in der Nähe vom A-Bomb Dome ein.
