Der Tag begann mit einer 4-stündigen Zugfahrt von Kushiro nach Sapporo, die wir zum größten Teil mit unserer Lieblingsbeschäftigung in Zügen, nämlich schlafen, verbracht haben. In Sapporo kauften wir uns am nächsten Ticketschalter ein Tagesticket für die U-Bahn. Dies, so stellte sich später heraus, erwies sich durch die vielen Verbindungen als sehr nützlich. Die erste Fahrt und ein kurzer Marsch führten uns zu unserem Hostel, bei dem uns „Miffy“, die Assistentin im Hostel herzlich begrüßte, jedoch mit Jenglisch zu erklären versuchte, dass wir zu früh für den Check-In dran sind. Gut, muss auch das erste Mal irgendwann sein! Sachen abgestellt und schon ging es bei trübem Wetter (mit ausgeliehenem Schirm vom Hostel, unsere hatten wir ja in Otaru vergessen) zur Schokoladen-Fabrik.

Die Fabrik oder besser der ganze Shiroi Koibito Park hatte sich, bis auf das große Eingangsschild, von der Straßenseite als Disneyland verkleidet. Fachwerkhäuser, Pavillon, Rosengarten, eine Miniwelt und sogar eine Eisenbahn befanden sich auf dem Gelände. Im Gebäudekomplex selbst wurde n Schauräumen die Gewinnung von Kakao sowie die Weiterverarbeitung zum Hauptprodukt, den „Shiroi Koibito Keksen“, durch die echte Produktionslinie veranschaulicht. Auf dem Rundgang erwarteten uns (Disneyland Rückfall) des Weiteren noch eine Schokoladen Tassen Sammlung, eine Grammophon Galerie und ein Spielzeugmuseum. Zu guter Letzt konnten wir uns noch die Produktion von Bonbons anschauen, probieren und kaufen.

Wegen des schlechten Wetters entschieden wir uns als nächstes in die „Sapporo Factory“ zu gehen, einem riesigen Shopping-Komplex. Dort genossen wir einen Erdbeer-Banane-Crèpe zu japanischer Livemusik bevor wir zum Biermuseum liefen.

Das Biermuseum hatte nicht mehr geöffnet, hätte uns auch nicht sehr interessiert (dazu haben wir das schon zu oft gesehen). Wir hatten jedoch darauf gehofft einen Platz in den Biergärten zu bekommen. Doch der Plan schien aussichtslos. Pure Massen und das Bestellsystem für einen Tisch brachten uns davon ab.

So liefen wir nach kurzer Erholungszeit zurück zum Bahnhof oder besser wir dachten wir laufen zurück zum Bahnhof. Auf dem Irrweg wie sich herausstellt trafen wir jedoch auf ein kleines buntes Fest, bei dem Kinder trommelten und dazu die unterschiedlichst verkleideten Menschen aber auch einfach Passanten im Kreis traditionell tanzten. Dort organisierten wir auch noch etwas zu essen von einer interessierten lustigen Omi.

Kaum aus dem Park stießen wir auf eine U-Bahn Station, welche uns verdeutlichte, dass wir in eine komplett falsche Richtung gelaufen waren, aber für das Fest hat es sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt. Schnell noch am Hauptbahnhof die Tickets für morgen bestellt und wieder ab ins Hostel, damit wir noch rechtzeitig zum Check-In kommen.
